This course focuses on developing leadership skills, understanding community dynamics, and taking initiative to make a significant impact in their local communities.
Course Highlights:
Understanding Community Leadership:
Learning about different types of community leadership roles, from elected officials to grassroots organizers, and how each contributes to community development.
Identifying Community Needs and Opportunities:
Exploring opportunities for leadership and service within various sectors, including education, environment, social services, and public health.
Developing Leadership Skills:
Enhancing key leadership skills such as strategic thinking, problem-solving, public speaking, and effective communication.
Engaging in leadership exercises and simulations to practice decision-making, conflict resolution, and team management.
Learning how to design a project plan, set goals, manage resources, and evaluate outcomes to ensure success and sustainability.
Planning and Implementing Community Projects:
Creating and executing a community project or initiative that addresses a specific need or opportunity within the local area.
Learning how to adapt and respond to unexpected changes or difficulties while maintaining focus on project goals.
Building and Leading Teams:
Developing skills for recruiting, organizing, and leading a team to work collaboratively on community projects.

Providing resources and guidance for ongoing community engagement and leadership development.
Students have the opportunity to become certified community response members through FEMA's Community Emergency Response Training (CERT) program, offered by Lady Blossoms Finishing School for Girls, an official FEMA CERT training center.
By the end of this course, our Petals will have developed strong leadership skills, gained hands-on experience in community service, and made meaningful contributions to their local area. Petals are led down a pathway to becoming influential, proactive, and compassionate leaders who drive positive change.
